We Can’t Wait to See You!

Pinot’s Palette Apex Studio is Open Again!

See How We Are Keeping You Extra Safe While Having Tons of Fun Sipping Your Favorite Drink While Painting Your Favorites!

We are so thankful and sincerely appreciate you supporting our small business while we closed our doors to keep you, our wonderful customers, safe. It is with great joy that we announce the reopening of our studio TODAY, Thursday, May 28th, 2020!

To keep you safe we are following the STRICTEST guidelines in sanitizing everything in our studio and will keep our classes at a very small size to keep everyone safe. As you can see in the picture, every seat will be at least 6 feet apart, unless you and your group request to be seated more closely.

Our “customer safety first” guidelines include:

  • Masks are required:
We understand people hold different opinions on mask-wearing, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Our guests will be required to wear a mask when they are not seated at their designated painting station. For example, going to the bathroom, ordering a drink from the bar, etc. Our artists and bartenders are required to wear a mask in the studio.

  • Limited class size to ensure social distancing:
For the time being, we will cap our public class at 10 guests to keep you safe while having fun painting. For private parties, we have reduced the minimum number of painters to be 5, and we will decide the maximum number on a case-by-case basis.

  • Disposable aprons:

Please feel free to bring your own apron, or wear a ‘studio outfit’ that you don’t mind getting paint on. We will also have disposable aprons if you need one.

  • Hand-washing and sanitizing:
Two hand-washing sinks are located in the studio main room (which will be the only room in use for public classes). Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes are available for customers.

  • Thorough studio cleaning between classes:
All brushes, easels, tabletops, counters, and chairs are thoroughly sanitized between classes. In addition, high traffic areas, door handles, light switches, and other frequently touched surfaces will be disinfected.

 Register Today!

On Thursday 5/28 we open our studio again (YAY!!!)! We are featuring ‘Moondancing’ at 7pm in the studio’s main room. This class is almost sold-out (capacity of 10) so click below to grab one of the last seats, https://www.pinotspalette.com/apex/event/433357

Our studio doors may be closed, BUT we’re not letting that stop us from helping you learn how to paint! That’s right - you will be able to create art at home with our help.

With schools continuing to be closed, a lot of them have offered online education, but not a lot of art classes are offered.

We understand the developmental benefits of art to children. To name a few:

Motor Skills: Many of the motions involved in making art, such as holding a paintbrush, are essential to the growth of fine motor skills in young children.

Decision Making: According to a report by Americans for the Arts, art education strengthens problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. The experience of making decisions and choices in the course of creating art carries over into other parts of life.

Visual Learning: Children need to know more about the world than just what they can learn through text and numbers. Art education teaches students how to interpret, criticize, and use visual information, and how to make choices based on it.

Inventiveness: When kids are encouraged to express themselves and take risks in creating art, they develop a sense of innovation that will be important in their adult lives.

Improved Academic Performance: Studies show that there is a correlation between art and other achievement. A report by Americans for the Arts states that young people who participate regularly in the arts (three hours a day on three days each week through one full year) are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, to participate in a math and science fair or to win an award for writing an essay or poem than children who do not participate.

And how about grown-ups? We miss our girls’ night out, date night, painting, sipping and having fun with friends. We have the solution! With take-home paint kits and online interactive virtual classes, you can comply with ‘social distancing’ while enjoying painting.

These take-home paint kits and virtual classes will allow you and your loved ones to spend time together, even though it may be in separate homes, painting, drinking wine, and celebrating the good things in life; And let’s be real… who couldn’t use a little more of that right now?

Let’s talk about our take home paint kits first. They are for kids and adults. With the kits, you can paint and have fun in your own space. Our painting kits include all the supplies you need and are fun for all ages. It's easy! Just purchase kits online and pick up the package from the studio at a designated time. A kit includes a canvas, brushes, paints, & printed step-by-step instructions. We have a no-brush option for those who already have brushes.

Now let’s talk about virtual painting classes. Taking a virtual class is to enjoy the Pinot’s Palette experience from the comfort of your home. Our studio’s artists will guide you step-by-step through the project. The experience is completely interactive - you’ll be able to ask the artists questions throughout the event. Below are the virtual classes on our calendar now. More will be added. We will deliver paint supplies for these classes for free if you live within 10-mile radius of our studio. Curbside pickup at the studio is available at designated time slots.

Pinot’s Palette Apex St. Patrick's Day FUN!

St. Patrick’s Day observes the death of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. The holiday has evolved into a celebration of Irish culture with parades, special foods, music, dancing, drinking and a whole lot of green.

Here are some of our favorite facts and tidbits about St. Paddy’s Day:

St. Patrick’s Day is an Irish national holiday with banks, stores, and businesses closing for the day.
The first St. Patrick’s Day celebration in the United States was held in Boston (1737).
The color of St. Patrick’s Day was originally blue.
Legend says that each leaf of the clover has a meaning: Hope, Faith, Love, and Luck.
The real St. Patrick wasn’t Irish. He was born in Britain around A.D. 390 to an aristocratic Christian family. He was kidnapped at the age of 16 and taken to Ireland as a slave. Many legends grew up around him—for example, that he drove the snakes out of Ireland.
Your odds of finding a four-leaf clover are about 1 in 10,000.

What are some activities that will make St. Patty’s Day a day full of fun?

☘️ Bake something green.
We don't know about you, but starting the day off with Green Velvet Silver Dollar Pancakes and ending it with sweet Lucky Charm Cookies sounds like the perfect way to ring in the holiday.

☘️ Make St. Patrick's Day cards.
Cards are one of the easiest ways to brighten someone's day, even if it's for a holiday you don't normally dish out cards for. The options are endless: Make some for your grandparents, people at your church, or the kids at the local hospital, and you'll bring smiles to many faces on March 17th.

☘️ Listen to Irish music.
Irish music gets the heart going, and there's nothing like seeing it live. Grab your dancing partner and head to a live show. In Raleigh, North Carolina, check out the St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival site to find out which bands will play on the Shamrock 'n Roll stage. If you're not near any of the aforementioned events, ring your local Irish pubs and ask about any traditional entertainment they may have planned.

☘️ Have an Irish Coffee, Baileys on the Rocks, a shot of Jameson Irish Whiskey, or a Guinness.

Irish Coffees make the tastiest — and most festive — cocktails to drink on March 17th. There's a healthy amount of Irish whiskey in here to keep you toasty, so savor it slowly.
Here is a delicious recipe: Fill a mug with hot water and let it sit for 2 minutes. Pour out the water and add 1 tsp. light brown sugar. Pour over hot coffee and stir to dissolve sugar, then pour in Irish whiskey. In a separate bowl with an electric mixer or by hand, whisk some heavy cream until soft peaks form. The cream should be thick but still pour-able. Top coffee with cream by gently pouring over the back of a warm spoon to form a thick layer on top of the coffee. Garnish with chocolate shavings.

Image result for picture of guinnessGuinness really is the official drink of St. Patrick's Day. Whether or not you're into the stout beer, indulge in a pint this holiday and toast to your Irish roots. If you haven't had one in a while, you'll be reminded of how creamy and delicious they are when poured fresh from the tap. If straight Guinness isn’t to your liking, try a half and half (also known as a Black & Tan) It’s ½ Guinness with ½ Harp lager.

☘️ Make a St. Patrick's Day Painting at Pinot’s Palette Apex! ☘️

On March 17th, we are painting something green! A sweet arrangement of succulents can enhance and compliment any rustic home decor setting. Never painted before? Cannot draw a stick figure? No worries, You'll leave with a masterpiece you can proudly display!

Our guests enjoy a no-experience-required art class directed by trained, local artists, who guide guests step-by-step through a featured painting. Better yet, March 17th is a Tuesday, so you enjoy Tuesday special of only $30 per seat

Also, to celebrate St. Patty's Day all our beers are $4 only that night! The best part? Your finished product will make a great addition to your home decoration. Sign up now before the class is sold out!

☘️ Slainte!  Aka - Cheers!
sláinte [SLAHN-chə] is an Irish expression that derives from the Old Irish word slán, meaning "healthy" or "safe".

Pinot’s Palette Apex and Leap Day 2020

We’ve all heard that 2020 is a leap year, but what does this really mean? It means we have an extra day in February this year. February 29 is a date that usually occurs every four years, and is called leap day. This day is added to the calendar in leap years as a corrective measure because the Earth does not orbit the sun in precisely 365 days. So, yes, once every four years, people born on Feb. 29 actually get to celebrate their birthday!

While in many countries and cultures people seem to have unfavorable superstitions around Leap Day - Leap Year, there is also this fun and romantic tradition. According to an old Irish legend, or possibly history, St Brigid struck a deal with St Patrick to allow women to propose to men on a leap day. This is believed to have been introduced to balance the traditional roles of men and women in a similar way to how leap day balances the calendar. A man was expected to pay a penalty, such as a gown or money if he refused a marriage proposal from a woman on Leap Day. In many European countries, especially in the upper classes of society, tradition dictates that any man who refuses a woman's proposal on February 29 has to buy her 12 pairs of gloves. The intention is that the woman can wear the gloves to hide the embarrassment of not having an engagement ring. During the middle ages, there were laws governing this tradition.

When it comes to Leap Day superstitions, the spiritual community sees February 29th in a positive light. They believe the day is good for healing, learning, and love.

Fun fact about Leap Day and Leap Year back home in the states. Did you know there is a ‘Leap Capital of the World’ in the United States? Anthony, Texas, is known as the “Leap Capital of the World”. Every leap year, this tiny town hosts the Worldwide Leap Year Festival. Since 1988, Anthony throws birthday festivals every leap year for people born on February 29. People throughout the USA and overseas travel to this tiny town to take part in parades, birthday dinners, and hot air balloon lifts. Participants range from babies celebrating their first birthday to people in their 90s celebrating another leap day birthday. In 1992 a man registered his 104-year-old mother, born on a leap day, for the festival.

Given all the fun facts, we here in Pinot’s Palette Apex think Leap Day ought to be romantic and fun. We will start with a romantic painting on Friday, February 28th in the evening - “Paris Rendezvous”

Traditions can be great fun for kids not to mention helping to build strong family ties so we are having a kids class on Leap Day, Saturday, February 29th at 11:00 am for the kids! It will be a ton of fun! https://www.pinotspalette.com/apex/event/404301

In the afternoon of Leap Day, we have our Bottomless Mimosa event where you can get unlimited refills of refreshing mimosa at only $12 while you paint. The painting is beautiful and fun. https://www.pinotspalette.com/apex/event/415422

In the evening we will paint “Backyard Bouquet’, to wrap a perfect Leap Day. If you get engaged, then congratulations; if you get 12 pairs of gloves, then you deserve better! Either way, let’s celebrate YOU!

Can’t wait to see you!

Pinot’s Palette Apex February Calendar Highlights and More!

Celebrating Galentine’s and Valentine’s Day and more

Our February Events Calendar is LIVE now. This month we have a well-balanced mix of events for our guests. There are some all-time favorite paintings that you might have seen in our studio or on our calendar but missed painting them, some great new additions recently created by our artists, and DIY projects such as wooden trays and pour paint marble art.

Valentine's Day celebration starts early in our studio. Check out our many date night paintings and book a fun night out. In a Date Night painting event, two partners will paint on two separate canvases and put the canvases together in the end to make one complete painting. It is fun to collaborate on a painting especially when painting is out of your comfort zone for both of you. And you will go home with a complete painting instead of two similar paintings. There are 5 date night painting events in February:
Feb 15th: Van Gogh’s Love Blossoms https://www.pinotspalette.com/apex/event/413580
Feb 16th: Romance on the Beach https://www.pinotspalette.com/apex/event/413604

If you are looking for a unique present for your Valentine, consider painting one for him/her. In our Pour Paint Marble Art class, we make beautiful art on ceramic tiles or canvas. And the sunflower wooden serving tray makes a fabulous gift. And how about this beautiful wood pallet painting?

Celebrate Galentine’s Day by painting and supporting an animal rescue - how cool is that?

Join us painting this lovely painting of friendship while supporting the St. Furever Freedom Animal Rescue. St. Furever rescues unwanted pets from NC high kill shelters, provides medical needs, spays and neuters and fosters until the animal's furever home is found. St. Furever works very closely with local animal shelters in finding homes for the pets that flow into the county shelters and is located in Rural Hall NC, Lexington NC, Raleigh, and Wilmington.

As a family-friendly studio, we always offer kid-friendly classes and camps. Kids age 5 and above can join our 'Little Brushes' classes and age 8 and above can join our 'Family Painting' classes. Parents can choose to stay and paint with them, or drop off and come back to pick up at the end of the class. Check our calendar for these wonderful classes for kids. https://www.pinotspalette.com/apex/events/february

In February, we also have a half-day camp. February 18 is a WCPSS teacher workday for traditional calendar schools, send your little ones to our studio where they can have a fun time immersing in the art of painting.

Happy February!
